Mrs. C Fennema

This is my second year teaching at CCS.
My husband retired in 2023, and we decided it was time to move to Coaldale. Three of our four
kids live here, and all of our grandkids do too—so it just made sense to be closer to family.
I actually took a year off from teaching to give retirement a try… and quickly realized it’s not for
me—at least not yet!
This year at CCS, I’m teaching Music to Grades 4 through 9, along with Church History for
Grades 7, 8, and 9.
My teaching journey started back in 2001 in the Fraser Valley, BC. I taught music at John Calvin
Elementary, William of Orange Christian School, and Credo Christian Elementary. I split my
time between the schools, spending two days a week at each.
In 2007, our family moved to the Bulkley Valley, where I spent the next 16 years teaching music
at Ebenezer Canadian Reformed School in Smithers.
Choir is my biggest passion when it comes to music.
I absolutely love singing praises to our good God with others. I also really enjoy teaching private
piano and organ lessons—being at the keyboard with my students is such a joy!
Outside of school, I’m involved as a church organist and choir director at the Coaldale Canadian
Reformed Church. I even direct a Christian Men’s Choir in Lethbridge—such a fun group!
Hobbies?
Honestly, my days are pretty full with all the good stuff that comes with teaching! But when I do
get some downtime, I enjoy crocheting, traveling with my husband, and having grandkid
sleepovers—those are the best!
What does the Lord require of you? But to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly
with your God! Micah 6:8
