Mr. J Van Raalte

I was born and raised in the Edmonton area and completed my Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta in 1999.  Before graduating, I interviewed for an opening at CCS and was offered my first teaching job.  That summer I was married to Colleen and we moved to Coaldale and have never looked back.  Over the years, I have taught mostly junior high and high school in the areas of Math, Science and Phys Ed.  I also served as the Athletic Director for many years as we developed an athletics program and have coached basketball since my first year at CCS.  In 2004, I was appointed as the Vice Principal and served in this role until August 2020 when I was appointed as Principal.  I obtained my Master of Education degree in School Leadership from Dordt University in August of 2021.

My wife and I love camping with our three children, so we spend many nights in the summer at a campground enjoying time with family and friends.  I love sports and enjoy watching hockey and college basketball.
