Mr. D Konynenbelt
SH Athletic Director; Religious Studies 9-12; CALM 10; PE 7-10; Outdoor Ed. 10
Groups: Staff

I graduated from Dordt College in 1988 and began my teaching career in Sarnia, Ontario, and taught for three years. In 1991 I moved back to Lethbridge where I taught at Immanuel Christian until 2015. Then after 5 years of live escape adventures, I sold that business and returned to teaching here at Coaldale Christian! I am married to my high school sweetheart and have 3 kids and 6 grandchildren. My favorite subjects to teach at CCS are the grade 9-12 Bible, CALM and Religious Studies courses.

I have always been involved in promoting the Pro-Life cause in Southern Alberta as a board member with Lethbridge Prolife and Elsie’s House. I love my work at CCS with the ARPA Club! I have also been very active in high school sports as an athletic director, coach, and builder. I have been awarded the Alberta School’s Athletic Association’s Robert Routledge Award and I was inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. I currently serve on the ASAA Sportsmanship Committee. Now that I am out of consistory, I spend my extra time serving on the boards of URCNA Foreign Missions Committee, the United Reformed Missions Association and CLIR (Reformed Missions in Latin America). I am also a board member of the Freedom and Rights Advocate that defends freedom of speech in Canada.

“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10
