Mrs. C Halma

Hello! My name is Carina Halma.

I teach Grade 3 here at CCS. I have been here since the spring of 2016, where I had the chance to participate in a 6 week internship at the school. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to get to know the school community as well as staff and students. 

I grew up in the Netherlands till I was 10 years old, when my family immigrated to Canada. We settled in Central Alberta, where I  attended Lacombe Christian School & Central Alberta Christian High School. After that, I attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. While at college, I had the opportunity to student-teach in both general classrooms as well as special education settings. 

I began my teaching career at CCS in Grade 4, which I taught from 2016-2018, then I moved to Grade 3. This will now be my 6th year of teaching, my fourth year teaching Grade 3. 

This past spring, I married Joel Halma. We live in Barnwell and attend Trinity URC in Lethbridge.

I am the oldest of 7 kids...so I still have siblings that are school age- which is super fun!
