Mr. A Diek

Welcome back to another school year!
For those that know me well, they will know that I am a proud, born and bred Aussie. I was born on the east coast of Australia on the Apple isle of Tasmania but spent most of my youth growing up in Western Australia. I attended three elementary schools, and one secondary school, namely, John Calvin Christian College, where I also taught for 18 months. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle, Western Australia in 2004 with a Bachelor of Health & Physical Education (with a minor in IT).
I consider myself some sort of veteran teacher now, after entering my 21st year. My teaching career began with a 5-month stint in Ontario covering a maternity leave position, followed by an 18-month stint back home in Western Australia. In 2007, I took a position at Providence Christian in Monarch where I worked for 7 years (the last three in administration). In 2014/15, I accepted a job at CCS and have obviously been here ever since. This is now my 9th year teaching at CCS, and I love almost every minute off it (there are honestly some minutes that are not enjoyable).
This year my teaching assignments are Social Studies 7-10, Grade 11/12 PE, and Grade 7-10 ICT. In addition, I am responsible for looking after the Junior High Athletics program, as well as continuing my role as the in-house “tech guy”.
As for my life outside CCS (and yes at times I must remind my students that I do have one), I am married to Danielle, and we have 5 children, all of whom are in school. I love being able to teach my own kids and see them at my workplace every day!
As a family we enjoy our almost annual summer trip out to the coast to meet up with family and friends.
I am still not a fan of Canadian winters and try to avoid being outside as much as possible during that time, and let’s face it, that is most of the year.
I have a keen interest in anything computer related and love to tinker around with newly released software and apps. I will be the first to admit I don’t find a lot of enjoyment in reading novels (hopefully my students aren’t reading this); BUT…I like to read books and articles that are practical and applicable to my life. I enjoy watching and playing sports where I can, and thanks to live stream I still avidly follow arguably the greatest sport ever invented in Australian Football (no…not rugby). I also enjoy watching and coaching my kids in their sports. When time allows, I like to chill and enjoy a good Netflix series, so long as it has more than 2 seasons.
Be still and know that I am God. Ps. 46:10
I am looking forward to another year of teaching God's covenant children.
